VIRTUAL TRAINING ACTIVITY – CHALLENGES SO FAR

AIM

Explore challenges that people can experience over a prolonged period of working remotely.

DURATION: 20-minutes

FACILITATION

  • Display the slide titled – CHALLENGES SO FAR.

Slide4

  • After displaying the slide read out the information on it and get them to do the activity.
  • As they write their answers in the chat window read through them quietly for the 3-minutes and take note of their answers and the people who wrote them.
  • After 3-minutes thank them for doing the activity and let them know that you are going to read through their answers.
  • Read out their answers and acknowledge each person who wrote them by name.
  • For instance you can say something like, thanks Ola, you said that….And Micheal you wrote that.
  • After that let them know that you also have some answers to contribute.
  • Display the next slide titled – NEGATIVE | POSITIVE.

  • Tell them that:
    • Research carried out among over 20,000 people identified six motivators which can impact people and teams in prolonged times of crisis such as the pandemic.
    • They are termed as ‘Negative’ and ‘Positive’ motivators.
  • Click on the slide once and tell them that:
    • The first negative motivator is ‘Economic pressures’.
  • Click on the slide again and tell them that:
    • The second negative motivator is ‘Emotional pressures’.
  • Click on the slide again and tell them that:
    • The third negative motivator is ‘Inertia’.
  • Click on the slide again and tell them that:
    • The first positive motivator is ‘Play’.
  • Click on the slide again and tell them that:
    • The second positive motivator is ‘Purpose’.
  • Click on the slide for a final time and tell them that:
    • The third positive motivator is ‘Potential’.
  • Next let them know that you want to talk about these motivators in more detail.
  • Display the next slide titled – NEGATIVE MOTIVATORS.

  • Click on the slide three times, each time reading out the content that displays to the participants.
  • Then display the next slide titled – POSITIVE MOTIVATORS.

  • Click on the slide three times, each time reading out the content that displays to the participants.
  • After you finish reading the information, ask for their views about what you just read. Listen to them without commenting.
  • Next tell them that, now that they know about the negative and positive motivators, they are going to do an activity to identify what they can do to decrease the negative motivators and boost the positive motivators.
